HP Spectre x360 - 15-df0033dx

I keep getting a Bootdisk failure: Failed to Read Delta Log Error on my HP Spectre x360 15 -df0033dx.  I purchased this laptop in 2019; recently the battery failed.  I installed a new battery.  Now I'm having difficulty booting up into Windows 11. Has anyone had this problem?

@PG1967, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

A boot disk failure, especially the "Failed to Read Delta Log Error," can be caused by several factors, including hardware issues, corrupted files, or configuration problems. Here's a general approach you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this error:

Check Boot Order in BIOS:

  • Restart your computer and immediately press Esc while booting to enter the Startup Menu.
  • Press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
  • Check if the boot order is correctly configured to boot from the correct hard drive.

Check Hard Drive Status:

  • Run HP Diagnostics to check the status of your hard drive.
  • You can access Diagnostics from the Startup Menu by selecting the appropriate option.

Recover Data:

  • If the hard drive is accessible but not booting, consider using an external recovery tool to retrieve important files.

Repair Boot Sector:

  • Boot from Windows installation media (USB or DVD).
  • Select "Repair your computer" and navigate to "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced options" > "Command Prompt."
  • Run commands like
    • bootrec /fixmbr
    • bootrec /fixboot
    • bootrec /rebuildbcd.

Verify System Files:

  • Use the command sfc /scannow in the Command Prompt to check for and restore corrupted system files.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
