Hi @TheCarrotMan,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thank you for contacting HP Support. We understand how concerning it can be when your HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-ec0013dx laptop is unable to boot into Windows and you're seeing a black screen with boot-related messages.
Let’s go through the steps to help restore functionality to your device.
Step 1: Hard Reset the Laptop
- Turn off the laptop completely.
- Disconnect any external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge residual power.
- Turn the laptop back on and check if it boots normally.
Step 2: Run UEFI Hardware Diagnostics
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press Esc, then immediately press F2 repeatedly upon powering it on.
- This will load HP Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI).
- Choose System Tests > Quick Test (or Storage Test) to check for any hard drive failure.
If the test fails or shows errors on the hard drive, the disk may need to be replaced.
Step 3: Check Boot Settings in BIOS
- Restart the laptop and press Esc, then press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
- Navigate to System Configuration > Boot Options.
- Ensure the boot order has "OS Boot Manager" or your internal drive listed first.
- If the internal drive is not listed, the BIOS may not be detecting the drive, which could mean a hardware issue.
- Press F9 to load BIOS defaults > then press F10 to save and exit.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
