I need to hook up the hard drive from an old laptop to a HP TPN-I120 and in the past (due to the fact I've forgotten the windows password), I've booted Linux from a USB stick or CD to bypass the password.
he other day, I tried the same thing, but am unable to find the correct combination of F key and when to press it. Can anyone offer a suggestion?

What you want is to get into the pop-up menu to change the boot order. Do that by Start tapping the Esc key BEFORE starting the PC and then press the start button.
Keep tapping the Esc key until a popup menu shows. Pick the set-up F9, to change the boot order.
I'm not an HP employee.
