Hello Team,

When I turn on my laptop it keeps entering bios menu and I have to select “ UEFI - windows boot manager”  before my windows appears. It didn’t happen at first and I don’t know what caused it. I don’t know if it’s because my 128gb SSD is almost full or because of my 4gb RAM. Please any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like your laptop's boot order may have changed, so it's defaulting to the BIOS instead of directly booting to Windows. Here’s how to troubleshoot and fix this.

 

Check Boot Order in BIOS:

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing F10, F2, Delete, or Esc during startup, depending on your model).
  • Look for the Boot Order or Boot Priority menu.
  • Make sure that Windows Boot Manager (or your SSD) is set as the primary boot option.
  • Save the changes and exit.

Disable Fast Boot (If Enabled):

  • While still in BIOS, check for an option labeled Fast Boot and disable it. This can sometimes cause the system to enter BIOS instead of loading Windows.

Run Diagnostics on SSD and RAM:

  • Although it's unlikely that a nearly full SSD or low RAM is causing the issue, running diagnostics can help rule out hardware problems.
  • Many HP laptops have built-in diagnostics. Press F2 on startup to access the HP Hardware Diagnostics, and run tests on both the Storage and Memory.

Free Up SSD Space (If Needed):

  • If your SSD is almost full, try to free up some space, as Windows requires some free storage for optimal booting and performance.
  • You can delete unnecessary files, uninstall unused applications, or move files to an external drive if needed.

Reset BIOS Settings to Default:

  • Sometimes, resetting the BIOS to its default settings can resolve unexpected issues.
  • In BIOS, look for the Load Setup Defaults option, select it, and save the settings.

Update BIOS (Optional):

  • If the problem persists, updating the BIOS to the latest version can sometimes resolve boot-related issues.
  • Visit the HP Support website to check if there’s an update available for your specific model.


These steps should help resolve the booting issue.
