Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to solve problem with upgrade my laptop with SSD 250Gb Samsung 960 EVO (M.2 NVMe).

I installed Win 10 to this SSD and when i want to boot, it doesn't work.

I googled some recipes and tried to activate Legacy booting, turned off CSM etc. but nothing works.

Please can someone try to help me ?

There is link for my HP Omen

Hi, there have been some compatibility issues with the Samsung PCIe drives and 7TH gen notebooks. Anyway, the best idea is to leave UEfi boot turned on (not legacy) and AHCI mode and also leave secure boot on. Now, remove the hard drive from the PC and leave only the SSD, Use the bootable pendrive you created from Microsoft https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 to perform a clean install on the SSD. See if it works and it boots into Windows after installing. Once installed and working, you can place the hard drive in the notebook again and delete the Windows partition on it. Hope it helps. David

Thanks for your advice.

So you mean physicaly remove my HDD from my motherboard or can I do it just somewhere in system ?

And I'm not sure if I have something like AHCI settings in my BIOS 😕

What do You think about this ?

Yes, I mean physically remove and then try to install with only SSD in the notebook.

The link is about bootloaders, there are many of them, however it will not really speed up the initial booting as it will first need to load the bootloader and then go to the M2 SSD.

Try the above first.

Hello, I just tried to remove my HDD and do it just with my SSD but it still doesn´t work 😞

I´m thinking about something weird.. sell my M.2 NVMe and buy M.2 SATA 😄

Do You think it can be the solution or can you give me another advice ?

Thank You very much !!

You could try a different M2 PCIe NVMe SSD such as the P1 by Crucial which guarantees its upgrades
