This is a new computer.  I have it hooked up to (2) Z27pk, using the first monitor as a docking station.  When I reboot the computer, the monitors don't connect.  I need to open the laptop, log in, unplug the monitor from USB-C, then plug it back into the USB-C port to get the monitors working again.

Hi @tallguyNJ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the boot issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check USB-C Connection: Ensure that the USB-C cable is securely connected to both the laptop and the monitor. Poor connectivity can result in intermittent or no signal.

Driver Updates: Verify that your Omnibook X has the latest drivers installed, especially the graphics and docking station drivers. These updates may include fixes for connection issues with external displays.

Monitor Configuration: Confirm that the Z27pk monitors are correctly configured in the display settings of your Omnibook X. Sometimes settings can be reset during a boot, requiring manual adjustments.

Power Settings: Review the power settings on the laptop. Sometimes, sleep or hibernation settings can affect how peripherals connect post-boot. You might need to disable sleep settings or configure your laptop to maintain connections through power cycles.

Monitor Firmware: Check if there is any firmware update available for the monitors. Manufacturers sometimes release updates that improve compatibility with newer devices.

Boot Sequence: Try adjusting the sequence in which you power on the devices. You might find that turning on the monitors before booting the laptop, or vice versa, resolves the connection issue.

Alternative Ports or Cables: If possible, test with different USB-C ports or cables to rule out potential faulty connections. Some docking stations also support HDMI or DisplayPort connections, which can be alternatives to USB-C.

I hope this helps.
