Hello,

I work for a company where we have around 25 HP ProBook laptops, including the HP ProBook 460 G11 and HP ProBook 440 G11 models.

We are experiencing a boot loop issue on several of these devices. We have already tried the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Reinstalled Windows with a clean installation.

  • Updated the BIOS to the latest version.

  • Installed the latest drivers and firmware.

  • Tested with a fresh OS installation.

Despite all of these steps, the problem still persists, and the laptops continue to experience boot loops.

Has anyone else encountered this issue with the HP ProBook 460 G11 or 440 G11 models? Is this a known hardware or firmware issue, or is there any recommended fix from HP?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Since this is happening on several ProBook 440 G11 / 460 G11 units in the same company environment, and the issue persists even after clean Windows installation, BIOS update, and driver/firmware updates, I would not treat this as a normal single-device Windows problem.

I would suggest handling it as a fleet-level issue and collecting repeatable evidence for HP Business Support.

Please check the following:

  1. Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI outside Windows:
    • Power on and tap Esc
    • Press F2
    • Run System Test > Extensive Test
    • Save any Failure ID if a test fails

HP Hardware Diagnostics:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/help/hp-pc-hardware-diagnostics

  1. Confirm whether the boot loop happens:
    • before Windows starts,
    • at the HP logo,
    • after Windows begins loading,
    • after BitLocker/Autopilot/Intune enrollment,
    • or only after company image/policies are applied.
  2. Test one affected unit with:
    • clean Microsoft Windows image,
    • HP Cloud Recovery image,
    • and company image.

If the issue happens only with the company image, check drivers, security tools, BIOS policies, BitLocker, endpoint protection, or deployment scripts.
If it happens even with HP Cloud Recovery or a clean Microsoft image, it is more likely firmware/hardware/platform related.

HP Cloud Recovery:

  1. Check Event Viewer and reliability history after each reboot loop:
    • Kernel-Power
    • WHEA errors
    • BugCheck
    • disk/NVMe errors
    • HP Sure Start / BIOS events
  2. Use HP Image Assistant to compare the installed BIOS/drivers/firmware against HP’s recommended baseline for these business models:
    https://ftp.ext.hp.com/pub/caps-softpaq/cmit/HPIA.html
  3. Prepare a report for HP Business Support with:
    • exact product numbers,
    • serial numbers privately,
    • BIOS versions,
    • Windows build,
    • SSD model/firmware,
    • failure frequency,
    • whether the issue follows a specific batch,
    • diagnostics logs,
    • and whether the issue occurs before or after corporate enrollment.

HP Support contact:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact

At this point, if several units are affected and the issue survives clean OS installation and BIOS updates, this should be escalated to HP as a business fleet issue, not handled as individual reinstall cases.
