Hi, I just got the HP victus 15 FA2701TX.

It doesn't boot up. I left it on charge for enough time. The power button lights up, the charging port lights up. There is a blink code on the caps lock key (white) (5 long and 3 short). Can someone please help me with this issue.

The fan is working but there is nothing else by which I can know what the issue is.

Hi @BhagyeshK

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I'm really sorry you're facing this right after getting your new HP Victus 15 FA2701TX. It’s deeply unsettling when a brand-new device won’t boot, especially when you’ve done everything right.

Let’s walk through this together and try to bring some clarity and direction.

What the Blink Code Means: 5 Long, 3 Short (Caps Lock)

This specific blink pattern typically indicates a BIOS recovery failure or corrupted BIOS image. The fact that the fan and lights are active suggests the system is receiving power but cannot complete POST (Power-On Self-Test).

Step-by-Step Recovery Actions

1. Perform a Hardware Reset

This clears residual power and may restore basic functionality.

  • Disconnect the charger.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the charger and try powering on again.

2. Try BIOS Recovery via Key Combo

HP laptops often support emergency BIOS recovery using a special key sequence:

  • Turn off the laptop completely.
  • Press and hold Windows key + B, then press and hold the power button for 2–3 seconds.
  • Release all keys and wait. You may hear beeps or see the screen flicker—this indicates BIOS recovery is attempting to launch.

If successful, the system may prompt you to reinstall or recover the BIOS.

3. Prepare a BIOS Recovery USB (If the above fails)

You can create a recovery USB on another computer:

Visit the official HP BIOS recovery page:
HP BIOS Recovery – Create USB

Download the BIOS update for your model:
HP Victus 15 FA2701TX BIOS – sp149054.exe

Follow the instructions to create a recovery USB and insert it into your Victus laptop before repeating the Windows + B recovery steps.

4. Check RAM and SSD Seating (Optional)

If you're comfortable opening the back panel:

  • Disconnect power and remove the bottom cover.
  • Reseat the RAM and SSD gently.
  • Reassemble and try powering on again.

You're doing everything right by seeking help early. If the recovery steps don’t resolve the issue, I can guide you through service options or help draft a formal support request. Just let me know what you need next.
