I just barely got into setting this thing up for first time and keyboard is locked. I can't even figure out what ser. # is to register on HP page. Mouse works. I've tried Fn and Shift key stuff I could find. What's going on?? 😞

Hi @frawg,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Do not worry, I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that you are facing issues with the brand-new keyboard.
If the keyboard on your HP 17t-cn300 laptop is locked and unresponsive, you can try these steps to troubleshoot the issue:
Restart your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix temporary issues. Restarting your laptop might resolve the keyboard lock.
Check for Physical Damage: Inspect the keyboard for any physical damage, spills, or debris that might be causing keys to stick or malfunction.
Toggle the Function Key (Fn): Some laptops have a function key (Fn) that can lock or unlock certain keys. Press the Fn key along with the appropriate function key (usually labeled with a lock or keyboard icon) to unlock the keyboard.
Use an External Keyboard: If possible, connect an external USB keyboard to your laptop to see if it functions properly. This can help determine if the issue is with the laptop's keyboard itself.
Check Keyboard Settings: Go to your laptop's settings and check the keyboard settings. Ensure that no settings are causing the keyboard to be locked or disabled.
Perform a System Restore: If the issue started recently and you suspect it might be due to a recent software change, consider performing a system restore to revert your laptop's settings to a previous point when the keyboard was working fine.
If none of the above steps resolve the issue and your keyboard remains locked, it might indicate a hardware problem. Contact HP customer support for further assistance
