Product: HP Laptop

Hello, 

My 14 YEAR OLD HP Laptop blinks all different colors during startup.  If I just let it run its course, in about 5 minutes my log in screen appears.  I can then log in and continue using PC as usual with no issue.  However, I cannot get into Safe Mode to troubleshoot.  What can I do to fix on my own.  By the way, not sure my updates are always completely successful.
