Hi @gregthess99 ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "CMOS checksum invalid" error typically indicates an issue with the CMOS battery or the CMOS settings on your laptop. Since you've recently changed the battery, it's possible that there might be an issue with the replacement battery or the way it was installed. Here are steps you can take to resolve the issue:
Check the CMOS Battery:
- Ensure that the new CMOS battery is properly installed and is making good contact.
- Make sure the battery is the correct type and voltage for your laptop model.
- Try reseating the battery to ensure a proper connection.
Reset CMOS Settings:
- Enter the BIOS/UEFI settings during the boot process (usually by pressing the F2 or Del key).
- Look for an option to load default or optimized settings. This will reset the CMOS settings to default values.
- Save the changes and exit the BIOS/UEFI.
Update BIOS/UEFI:
- Check if there is a BIOS/UEFI update available for your laptop on the HP support website.
- If an update is available, follow the instructions provided by HP to update your BIOS/UEFI.
Check for Hardware Issues:
- Ensure that all hardware components, especially the RAM and hard drive, are properly seated.
- Run built-in diagnostic tests if your laptop has them. HP laptops often have a built-in diagnostic tool that you can access during the boot process.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-
