HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-d5000 (4V9Y1AV)

Good day, my Hp model 15-dy5399nr, began with a problem in charging the battery, it was solved alone and reached 100% to turn it on the next day and appeared discharged to 85% percent. These days I had no power supply because where I took it there was no way to charge it and the battery was completely discharged. Now it does not want to turn on I have put it to charge for several hours, the LED indicator comes out the orange light sometimes appears and sometimes not. And on 2 occasions the CMOS RESET (502) error has appeared, it says that it restarts but nothing else comes out, it remains in black and does not turn on. Is the internal battery the problem?

I understand the issue you're facing with your HP 15.6-inch Laptop PC 15-d5000 (4V9Y1AV) seems to be related to both the main battery and the CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) battery. 

Here's a breakdown of what's likely happening:

 

1. Main Battery Issue

  • The inconsistent charging and rapid discharge could indicate a problem with the main battery or the charging circuit.
  • If the main battery was completely discharged and isn’t recharging properly, it might be damaged, or the charging port or power adapter might have issues.

2. CMOS Battery Issue (502 Error)

  • The CMOS battery is a small internal battery that powers the BIOS settings, such as system time and hardware configurations, even when the laptop is turned off.
  • The "CMOS Reset (502)" error usually occurs when the CMOS battery is failing or has lost its charge.
  • Since your laptop is showing this error and remains unresponsive, it's possible that the CMOS battery has drained completely.

Steps to Troubleshoot:

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the laptop from any power source.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds to discharge any remaining power in the capacitors.
  • Connect the charger and try to turn the laptop on again.

Check the Charging Adapter and Port:

  • Make sure the power adapter is working properly. If possible, try using a different charger to rule out an issue with the adapter.
  • Inspect the charging port for any debris or damage.

Reset the CMOS Battery:

  • If you are comfortable opening the laptop, you can try to reset the CMOS battery. This involves disconnecting the CMOS battery, waiting for a few minutes, and then reconnecting it.
  • In some cases, the CMOS battery might need to be replaced if it has failed.

Inspect the Main Battery:

  • If the laptop powers on intermittently or shows erratic behavior (like charging to 100% but discharging quickly), the main battery might be faulty.
  • You can try using the laptop with the battery removed and just the charger connected to see if it powers on. If it does, the main battery might need replacement.

If the issue persists:

  • The CMOS battery might need to be replaced, especially if it's older.
  • You might also want to update the BIOS once the laptop powers on, as outdated BIOS firmware can cause power and charging-related issues.
