about 75% of the time my laptop wont turn on unless connected to power, and will often shut off while I am using it. Everytime I use it it comes up with an error stating that the CMOS is being reset. I replaced the battery in it about 6 months ago and have had no issues until recently. The battery is always charged when it boots up, and is still above 60% or so when it shuts off while im using it. If it is plugged in it works just fine.

Hi @mdavis32,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand that your laptop won't turn on unless it's connected to power, even after changing the battery and performing a CMOS reset. Sorry to hear you're still having trouble! Let’s go through some steps to diagnose and resolve this issue.
Please try BIOS Restore, this should help in fixing the issue.
BIOS Restore:
1) Shutdown the computer, keep the charger plugged
2) Hold down the Windows and B button together while the computer is still turned off.
3) Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows and B button until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.
4) Follow on-screen instructions and click on OK
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
