HP Envy 15t - J100 - E1P05AV
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Envy 15 that came with windows 7. Recently I replaced the HDD to a SSD and upgraded the windows 7 to windows 10 via microsoft upgrade tool. When I placed the SSD I choose MBR but I heard that GPT can be faster. But from what I've looked over the internet, the GPT requires the boot to be on UEFI. And I dont know if my HP Envy 15 supports it. I've tried once to disable legacy boot on boot options but I got error "Boot Device not Found" (3F0) and had to switch back to enable legacy boot option. I'm afraid of trying something that can potentially mess up with the notebook. Is it possible to use GPT partition on the HP ENVY 15? How can I do it?

@Revnus Welcome to HP Forums Community!

The new Win10 PCs come with both UEFI (instead of BIOS) and GPT disk formatting (instead of MBR).

From your message, it appears that your installation media was created for MBR formatted disks, so it can not be used to install to GPT formatted disks, I suggest you check this article for details on how to make use of the HP Recover media to install the HP recommended OEM back on your PC: Click here

As for the Boot device not found error, if the issue continues to show up on your screen: Click here to troubleshoot the same.

Well, I'm sure that I can use GPT instead of MBR if it is possible to change the boot from BIOS to UEFI. Is this possible for my notebook model (HP Envy 15)?  I've downloaded newest bios driver for my pc model which is Insyde F.72  and I know that there is a HP UEFI boot that leads to "HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI" as below, so the notebook might have compatibility to the UEFI boot:

@Revnus I'm afraid the option to update the BIOS is not available for your device unless you go back to the OEM version of the OS as advised earlier,
Although, you may want to check on the HP website to see if there are any options available.
