Can I clone a hard drive that has error code on it?

Hi,

You can try, but I believe it will not work. Does the error code have to do with the system or is it a hardware error code.

 

The best idea is to perform a clean install with the latest OS. You can create a USB Drive on a different PC with Windows 10 on it here

or you can create a USB drive with HP cloud recovery tool

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06162205

 

Then you can get a USB to SATA cable and try to recover your personal data from the old drive.

If you are replacing the drive, I would suggest to replace with an SSD.
