Hello everyone 🙂
Yesterday I replaced my default HDD on new Samsung SSD EVO-860. Also DVD-drive was ejected and replaced on old HDD.
After that I migrated OS to SSD.
So, I can boot from SSD, if press F9 during laptop starting. OS works fine, but I want to change dafault boot-device.
All utilities from OS side or HP tools see SSD like Disk 0 and old HDD like Disk 1. By default laptop starts from HDD (Disk 1).
Ok, we need to change boot priority in BIOS. I found appropriate point in Boot settings, but I can't change device: when I pressed Enter on "Notebook hard disk", the laptop showed me a set of strange characters and name of old HDD. It looks like you are trying to read a corrupted file.
I've returned default BIOS settings....no result. I've updated BIOS... no changes.
How can I change boot priority from old HDD to new SSD?

@MaxysT, Welcome to HP Support Community!
Follow the steps below:
-
Turn the computer off completely.
-
Turn on the computer by pressing the Power button and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second, until the Startup Menu opens.
-
When the Startup Menu appears, press F10 to select BIOS Setup.
-
Use the up and down arrow keys to select Legacy Support, press Enter to change the setting to Enable and press Enter again.
Figure: Legacy Support
-
Use the left and right arrow keys to select Yes on the confirmation window and press Enter to enable Legacy Support.
Figure: Confirmation window
Now to change the boot order refer to this document.

Dear TEJ1602,
I've already done it without success. Even after that manipulation I saw strange characters in boot order.
Probably I should add a photo for better understanding.
I will keep you informed.
And thanks for your reply.
