I am attempting to disable Fast Boot in the BIOS on my EliteBook with BIOS version 01.25.
Per the onscreen suggestions, I've enrolled a user in SpareKey (though I don't have a Windows system to log in to, which I believe is part of how that works), and I've set a DriveLock password.
The Fast Boot option remains greyed out.
How can I disable it?
Thanks!

@IT_WinSec is familar with Elitebook. Perhaps he will pop in and offer some help.

Hi @droffsite
Welcome to the HP Support forum.
It's been a few days since you posted and if you still haven't found a workaround or the root cause, I'd like to let you know that what you see is by system design and it is how it works. Just confirmed this for you on 2 different Elitebooks. You cannot manage Fast boot if you have some sort of preboot authentication enabled (except for Drive Lock). This has to to with either HP Drive Encryption (not Drive Lock) enabled with PBA screen, related to HP SpareKey, or POST power-on password enabled...
Check the "Security" tab in the BIOS, disable SpareKey, check if you have preboot authentication, check your boot settings.

I ended up resetting the BIOS since enabling/disabling DriveLock and enrolling/removing BIOS users had no effect. The BIOS reset reenabled the Fast Boot checkbox.
Good to read . Resetting the BIOS actually sets all settings to default settings.:smileywink: I am glad you found a way around.
Make sure you keep Drive Lock on. This is a great security feature and will help you prevent access to unauthorized people or if your PC gets lost/stolen. Drive Lock doesn't affect Fast boot options. If your computer is stolen, the entire hard drive is inaccessible and unusable without the Drive Lock password. This password can not be reset. If it is lost or forgotten, the hard drive must be replaced.
