15-f039wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello all!

I have a roughly 6 year old HP 15-f039wm laptop. I am unable to enter the BIOS Setup. I have cleared the CMOS already. Recently, I updated the BIOS to version F.42. I don't know if that changes anything.

Currently, I get stuck at this screen:

Top left corner of screenTop left corner of screenBottom left corner of screenBottom left corner of screen

I am able to successfully enter the Startup menu by pressing ESC. However, even from there I can't enter BIOS setup; it just shows the single cursor at the top left of the screen. Is there anything I can do? The laptop successfully boots into Windows 10, so I don't think there's any issues with the BIOS itself.

Hi@DC-10, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

This method to be very helpful and simple too.  https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c02693833

  1. Turn off the computer, and then connect the power cord.

  2. Press and hold the Windows key  and the B key at the same time, and then press and hold the power button for 2 to 3 seconds.

  3. Release the Power button but continue pressing the Windows and B keys. You might hear a series of beeps.

The HP BIOS Update screen displays and the recovery begins automatically. Follow any on-screen prompts to continue the startup to complete the recovery.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
