HP Laptop

When hubs turns on his laptop, he gets a message that his pin isn't working and to reset. the next screen says to download an app when he clicks on that, the screen goes back to pin isn't working. Please help!

Reboot the computer and look and see if there's more than one account you can use. The account to use is the one that you activated windows with -OR- a local account that does not try to login online.

If there's only one account then look for an option such as "Choose a different way to log in"

If its asking for your phone number then switch to where you can enter your email, username or PIN.

 

If you see a wi-fi icon on the the screen then click on it and connect to Wi-Fi.  Possibly the PC is trying to authenticate the username and ignore the PIN if it cannot find the username.
