@Brownj69, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Issues with Windows 11 Password Screen After Update!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you are unable to get past the password screen on your Windows 11 device after an update, there are several troubleshooting steps you can follow. Below are some potential solutions:

1. Restart Your Device

Sometimes, simply restarting your device can resolve login issues.

2. Use Safe Mode

Booting into Safe Mode might help you bypass the login screen and allow you to troubleshoot further.

Steps to access Safe Mode:

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. When the sign-in screen appears, press and hold the Shift key, and select Restart.
  3. On the next screen, choose Troubleshoot -> Advanced options -> Startup Settings -> Restart.
  4. Once restarted, choose Enable Safe Mode with Networking.

3. Password Reset Options

If you have a Microsoft account, you can reset your password online:

  1. Go to Microsoft Account Password Reset.
  2. Follow the instructions to reset your password.

4. System Restore

If the issue started after a recent update, you can perform a system restore to revert your system to a previous state:

  1. Boot into Safe Mode.
  2. Go to Control Panel -> Recovery -> Open System Restore.
  3. Follow the prompt to restore your system to a previous state.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
