Hello Dvortex,

Many thanks for letting me know that this problem is liked to graphic driver, and for all your instructions.

I have tried all options you sent. HP SA did not work. I then went to Intel's driver update utility and updated my graphic drivers. It did not work. In fact, Intel's driver update utility showed an older version of graphic (4501) driver as a new one and the one installed (4531), which was the new driver, showed it as an older one.

However, the problem got solved-so far I did not have problem signing in in desktop mode. I will describe what I did in cae anyone is facing same problem:

I went to device manager and right-clicked to update drivers. instead of searching automatically, I searched the drivers in the computer and out of several available drivers, I installed the newest one (4531) and ever since I did not have problem signing in Windows 10 in desktop mode. It may be that the new driver was not installed properly so reinstallation helped.

All the best,

Arben

Hello, @arben11 – Hope you are well 🙂

Thanks for reaching out to HP Support Forums! I will certainly do my best to help you 🙂

Going through your post, I see that you are not able to login to the desktop mode on your Envy X360. Are you logging in while in the detached state? Then, when you reattach the notebook, is it automatically returning to the desktop mode? Please do let me know the results. Check http://hp.care/2kARhpv for details.

Also, try the steps below:

  • Click Settings on the Start Menu.
  • Select System
  • Select Tablet mode in the left pane. A Tablet mode submenu appears.
  • Toggle "Make Windows more touch-friendly . . ." to on to enable Tablet mode. Toggle it off to go to desktop mode.
  • Select "Don't ask me and always switch" from the "When this device automatically switches" menu if you want Windows 10 to switch modes on your 2-in-1 without prompting you.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Good luck 🙂

Hi Dvortex, thanks for quick reply. My notebook is not.detachable, it convertible laptop. I try to login with my keyboard but after boot, the screen is blocked and does not react to left click with mouse. Therefore, I have to turn the notebook monitor like in a tablet.and then tap the screen so the box for entering my login password opens. This way never fails. That is the only problem. There.is.no problem in switching between desktop and tablet mode while working.

Many thanks!

Hello, @arben11

Thanks for the reply & appreciate your efforts 🙂

Let's try to do a BIOS default on your Envy. Here are the steps:

1) Shutdown the computer.

2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.

3) Press F10 once for BIOS.

4) Press F9 for BIOS defaults.

5) Press F10 to save and exit.

If the issue persists, try updating the BIOS of your notebook. Go to http://hp.care/2lzD0YM to download and update the BIOS.

Let me know if that helps!\

Cheers 🙂

Hello Dvortex,

Sorry for not replying earlier-I wanted to wait and see whether your suggestions work. Unfortunately, neither does. I tried making default on my BIOS, then I updated my BIOS, but it did not work. In fact, most of hte time when I try to sign in the Windows 10 in desktop mode, the cursor does not react at all on mouse click. Therefore, I have to turn the monitor of my notebook physically and sign in in tablet mode, which works. However, as I always work in desktop mode, this has become frustrating problem. The problem emerged when I installed Windows 10.

Do you have other suggestion?

All the best,

Arben

Hello, @arben11

Thanks for the reply & appreciate your efforts 🙂

Since the issue started after you updated to Windows 10, it sure looks like a driver issue on your PC.

I would suggest updating all your drivers using the HP Support Agent, especially the graphic drivers.

HP Support Assistant is a software program designed to help you keep your computer in working order, prevent potential problems from arising, and resolve problems quickly and easily. The program also provides valuable system information that you need when troubleshooting computer problems. Please go to http://hp.care/2gFA6Q8 to install the HP SA if you do not have it already.

If you have the HP SA installed then go to http://hp.care/2gqoIri and follow the steps under “Checking for HP updates’ to find and install the updates. Restart your PC once done.

It is important to update your graphic drivers. If there are no updates available via HP Support assistant, then try using the Intel driver update utility to update your Intel graphic drivers. Go to http://hp.care/2cu13pK and download the utility to get the latest graphic driver updates. Restart your PC once done.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Cheers 🙂
