model: 15-f003dx
BIOS: insydeH20 Version F.34
The HD for my laptop died. I installed a new one. Cant get the ISO of win 8.1 to install from a flash drive. The PC came with 8.1 factory installed. It was upgraded to 10 on the old HD.
I believe i have correctly created the ISO on the flash drive using windows 7 usb/dvd download tool.
I have change the UEFI boot order to "USB Diskette on key/USB hard disk" first.
I have tried using secure boot enabled and disabled.
I have tried all the USB ports.
I did format the sandisk flash drive in NTFS format before copying windows 8.1 to it.
is it possible there are no drivers for the USB ports? Do USB ports need drivers? are they in the BIOS?
It is a 64-bit version of win 8.1
I just keep getting the "Boot Device not found please install an operating system on your hard disk" message.

I figured it out.
All I had to do was switch to legacy boot. I was misled by the BIOS notes. It stated that legacy boot was only for win 7 and below. They need to add windows 8.1 to the list.
