Hello once again Techie

According to the procedure you just sent the conclusion is that I have a failure in the memory module. I did as you indicated and in the end I got the same result. Blinking three times.

This model have 2 memory slots, and both are being used by memories with the following label:

Samsung 2GB 2Rx8 PC3 - 10600S - 09-10-F2

M471B5673EH1-CH9 1014

How do I know which memory crashed (if not both)?

My other question would be is there any other memory replacements avaliable for this laptop? It is not new and probably I wont find new memories, only used. If there is other options besides the one I wrote above would be better. It can be 2G or 4GB memories.  (my laptop is 64 bits, so I believe it would allow 4GB memory modules).

Thank you once again.

Hi FerrariLuis,

Only way to find out is to use both RAM 1 at a time. If the laptop has 2 Memory module, both cannot fail at a same time.

Try another RAM from a known good unit, if that also fails, its an issue with system board.

So, something happened.

As I said, I have 2 modules. I removed both and installed only one at the first slot (the upper one, not the one at the bottom).

The first try nothing happened (not even the blinking lights) and after about 20 seconds it turned off...but with the second the boot begun, with the HP logo and everything, but right after it  powered down and this boot  didn't happened again, in instead it also started to power down...power up....in that cycle.

Does it mean something? Should the computer be able to start with only one module of 2GB?

Hello @FerrariLuis,

As you said that you PC has 2 Memory Modules and you tried reseating.

Its very rare that the both the modules fail at the same time. One of them should be failed.

STEPS :

2 Memory modules.

Memory A and Memory B.

First take Memory A out and try to restart the unit and see if you get the error,

Repeat the same with Memory B. One of them should be failed.  Replace it.

Hello community,

I have an old notebook HP Pavilion dv4-2040br Entertainment Notebook PC with 4Gb of system RAM. According to the equipment manual this notebook supports up to 8GB of system RAM.

The label of the current memory in the slots right now is the following:

Samsung 2GB 2Rx8 PC3 - 10600S - 09-10-F2

M471B5673EH1-CH9 1014

I would like to upgrade this old notebook to 8GB of system RAM by replacing the 2 x 2GB by 2 x 4GB (as I understood, this is the maximum allowed). Can anybody please indicate the specification of the memory I should by at eBAY?

Thank you very much.

PS: Thats whats written in the notebook manual
