pavillion x360 14-ba104na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I recently opened up my HP Pavillion x360 14-ba104na to upgrade the RAM and swap out the SSD. when I first put it back together, I got a black screen, and the flashing caps lock key - 3 long, 2 short. When I disconnected the trackpad cable from the motherboard (no idea why I did this now!) it booted up fine, but after reconnecting and rebooting it refuses to start up and the caps lock flashes. I have opened it back up and looked at both the trackpad and the motherboard and I can't see any visual damage that would explain it. Are there any parts I can try replacing (the trackpad board?) or is it more likely to be a motherboard issue (despite it being fine when the trackpad is not connected)

Thanks!

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that your notebook should black screen after upgrading RAM and SSID, I am glad to assist you.

Run Extensive system test to check for hardware failures.

1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.

3. On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.

4. Click Extensive Test.

5. Click Run once, or Loop until error. While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component are shown on the screen.

If it shows any errors, this could be a hardware issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Keep me posted.
