HP Recommended

Hello,

I am facing a recurring issue with my HP 255 G8 Notebook PC

The problem is as follows:

The laptop does not turn on normally, and most of the time, it only shows Caps Lock blinking in a specific pattern (3 slow blinks and 2 fast blinks).

Sometimes it turns on randomly, but on boot, it shows an error message like:

"CMOS checksum is invalid" or "CMOS checksum failed".

After that, the system may work for a while, but then it shuts down unexpectedly, and the Caps Lock blinking issue comes back.

I have already:

Opened the laptop and tried disconnecting the battery to reset CMOS.

Performed a 60-second power drain.

Installed HP Support Assistant and ran diagnostics (battery and storage show normal).

But the issue keeps happening. Please advise the next steps or if BIOS repair or motherboard service is needed.
