Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a problem with the notebook device number Y0W44EA.
My SSD had to be replaced because it was broken.

Now I would like to boot from the network (PXE) or from the USB stick to reinstall Windows 10.

Unfortunately, all settings in the BIOS are not saved, I go into the BIOS, press F10 and change the boot sequence. Save & Exit and after booting the laptop boots again from the Windows UEFI Boot Manager.

The BISO also shows the boot manager of the broken SSD.

What can I do?

BIOS: InsydeH20 Rev. 5.0
Board ID: 81F9

I have just tried to assign an administrator password in the BIOS, this is also not saved.
After I have pressed Save & Exit and restart, the password is not asked.

@Tomatchen85 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are unable to save the BIOS settings.

Do not worry. I will try to fix the issue.

Please reset the boot order to the default settings.

To reset the boot order to the default settings, follow the steps below.

  1. Turn on or restart the computer.

  2. While the display is blank, press the f10 key to enter the BIOS settings menu.

  3. In the BIOS Setup utility, select the File tab.

  4. Select Apply Defaults and Exit.

The BIOS setup utility closes and the computer boots into Windows.

NOTE:

BIOS configurations vary depending on the computer. For further information on a specific computer, view the documentation provided with the computer. The BIOS settings are generally found in the Maintenance and Service Guide.

Hi,I have tried to set the BIOS to default several times. So far without success! I also removed the CMOS battery to set it to default.Afterwards I can´t save an administrator password or settings! Is there a special key combination here to get into a writable BIOS?

I understand your concerns.

Press Windows key and then followed by the key "B" this time and then the power button for around 3-4 seconds, then release the power button and continue to hold windows+B for 3-4 seconds more.

Please update the firmware and check.

Have a nice day!!
