Pavilion ce-0002sa
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

Last night I shut down my laptop and noticed my charging light was blinking, even though it was powered off. I checked the power cable and it was off, and I also checked all attached devices and they were off. It was still blinking this morning.

The light is white and it blinks 5 times before pausing and repeating.

It is charging and discharging fine. And it is turning on and off fine. However I am assuming there must be an issue as why else would it do this? And does anyone know a way to solve it?

Thank you!

If everything is working as it should except for the irritating blinking led that means, apparently nothing, you may just have to live with it.

If there is a BIOS upgrade available, consider doing it.  The most recent version is F.05 Rev.A dated Aug 30,2018.

The drivers for your notebook are located at the link below.

It would help if you identified your notebook with its product number.

Look on the bottom of the notebook in the tiny print for the ProdID.

Post it here. It is the notebook's product number.

What you have provided to attempt to identify your notebook with is incomplete and as such not usable.

Did you mean to post HP Pavilion 14-ce0002sa instead?

What do you mean by " it is turning on and off fine"?

Sorry, here is the ProdID: 4RD73EA#ABU

Yes I meant 14-ce0002sa.

By "it is turning on and off fine" I mean that it is turning on and off as normal - when Googling for this problem everyone has said that the white light is blinking AND the laptop is not turning on, whereas for me it's just the light is blinking.

OK.

Well, you are quite lucky then.

The LED error message is just odd in that case.

I suggest that you perform a hard reset. That should clear the blinking leds. If not, I suggest running a battery test.

Hi,

I tried hard resetting a couple of times and it didn't seem to make a difference. I also tried the battery test.

I did notice that when I was holding the power button it blinked continuously.

I also noticed that the LED flashes orange briefly just once when I first plug it in (although it's probably always done this and I've never noticed, since it only happens once).

How about invoking the HP Hardware Diagnostics Utility from start with an F2 key tap.

Run the System test. I mean the extensive one.

KIndly share the result here in your thread.

OK - I’m now running it so will let you know when it’s eventually done.

Hi,

The extensive test just finished. The results were that everything passed.

I also did a test just on the battery that passed.

I've now updated the BIOS - thanks, it was on F.01.

Thanks for all your help - glad to know that nothing's wrong.

Thanks for your time today,

Sam
