Compaq Presario CQ61
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

my CQ61 does not start anymore. caps lock + num lock is blinking for ever (does not stop blinking), fan is running, screen keeps black, external screen does not show anything.

The laptop wasn't used for a year. i took off memory - and replaced it. Tried 100 times > it worked 2 times! Now it does not work at all anymore.

Taking of the CR2032 battery does not help either.

I heard of this blinking codes - but never heard of "endless" blinking. What does it mean ?

I also heard of reflashing bios via USB drive. But is this possible for compaq ? I think it's only possible for HP, isn't it ?

@kiai72

Please try a hard reset and see if it works.

  • Power off your notebook
  • Remove the a/c adapter, battery and everything that is attached to your notebook.
  • Hold the 'POWER' button down on your notebook for about 10 seconds.
  • Plug in the a/c power supply (without battery) and power on.

Regards
