Hi. My compaq Presario CQ40 won't boot up today, i had problems with this before but i managed to boot it up by removig the battery and uplugging the power supply but today it won't boot up and i have tried that, i have tried removing static and all of that bs and it still won't work. wierdly though it will only boot up if the red light next to the power lights up.
any help will be amazing.

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂
I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
As I understand the Compaq Presario CQ40 won't start up,
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
Did you check with an external/alternate monitor to check if that has a display?
Are you getting any error message or just a black screen with lights on the pc?
Do you have a blink or beep codes as such?
While you respond to that, I recommend you try the below steps:
Run the System Diagnostics tests
