Envy: 17t-u000 CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Envy 17t-u000 CTO that I got about two years ago. Recently it shut off for no apparent reason. After inspecting the laptop I decided it was probably the battery, so I installed a new one, however, it still will not turn on though now the charging light comes on. When the charging cable is plugged in, the orange light comes on, but when I press the power button, the light goes off and nothing starts. To get the light to come on again, I have to unplug the battery and reinstall it. I have tried to perform a hard reset, but when I do that, the fan comes on for about 5 seconds before shutting down in the same way as previously described. I’m really not sure what to do.

So, the battery will not charge.

You may need to closely inspect the battery connector and the header that it plugs into.

What exactly do you mean by" unplug the battery and reinstall it"?

All you should need to do is unplug the battery connector and reconnect it.

Have you considered that the new battery may be faulty?
