Computer will not turn on

I have tried several times to turn on my computer and it will not come one whether by just battery power or plugged up. The only light I see is the white light by the power plug port. I have tried a hard reset removing the battery holding the powe button 15 and 60 secs and nothing happens. I need help severely. I have tried a new battery and that still doesn’t work and I have very important files on this computer. Please HELP!

I wish we could help you from here, but we can't. The problem is that we HERE, have no way of diagnosing or repairing hardware problems. And, with the PC not even starting, even HP Tech Support, who have the authority and tools to REMOTE into a PC across the Internet, can not access your PC.

Software failures invariably present with error messages of some kind on the screen, such as No Operating System or No Boot Device. In these cases, reinstalling the OS from media such as DVD or USB fixes the first; rebuilding the boot records using various utilities fixes the second. But any time a laptop simply refuses to turn on, that tend to indicate a serious hardware failure.

You would need to take or send your laptop to an HP Service Center to have it diagnosed and, if they can fix it, they would invariably re-image the drive, effectively removing everything on it.  To recover anything prior to that, your short-term focus should be on data recovery, as follows ...

1) Remove the hard drive from the old PC
2) Purchase a USB-to-Hard Driver adapter kit (like the one illustrated below)

3) Connect the old drive to a working PC using that adapter
4) Try to retrieve the files and folders you want to save from the old drive and copy them to the new PC.

If this does not work, then you need to do the following:
1) Download and install this utility on a working PC http://www.majorgeeks.com/news/story/recover_data_in_3_steps_with_minitool_power_data_recovery_free_...
2) Run the data recovery utility to see what can be retrieved from the old drive.
