Hi @GregoryKrolczyk,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Chromebook X360 won't turn on or boot up, there could be several potential causes for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to try and resolve the problem.
Check the Power Adapter and Charging: Ensure that your Chromebook is properly connected to the power adapter and that the charger is plugged into a working power outlet. Sometimes, a drained battery can prevent the laptop from turning on.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Disconnect the power adapter from the Chromebook.
- If there's a reset hole on the device, insert a paperclip or a similar tool into the hole and press the reset button for about 10 seconds.
- Afterward, reconnect the power adapter and try turning the Chromebook on.
Check for Signs of Life:
- Look for any LED lights or indicators on the Chromebook that may show it's receiving power.
- If the LEDs are on but the screen remains black, it could be a display issue.
Check for Physical Damage:
- Inspect the Chromebook for any physical damage, like cracked screens or damaged ports.
Try a Different Charger:
- Sometimes, the charger itself might be faulty. Try using a different charger that you know works with another device.
Perform a Powerwash:
- If your Chromebook is stuck in a boot loop or there's a software issue preventing it from starting, you can perform a powerwash (factory reset). To do this, press and hold the Refresh (circular arrow) key and then press the Power button. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Boot into Recovery Mode:
- If the powerwash doesn't work, try booting into recovery mode by pressing and holding the Esc and Refresh keys and then pressing the Power button. This can help you recover or reinstall the Chrome OS.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
