I dropped my laptop and it wouldn't turn on, so I went to see what was wrong with it at a laptop repair store.  Apparently a plate was bloking something so they took it out and it could turn on again. But it only turns on plugged in and shuts off if not, should I open it up and put the plate where it's supposed to go or get hp to look at it?

Hi,

Youve mentioned you went to see a repair store? So.. Did they mentioned something about the plate? What is it for?

Yes you could call HP but please be advised that you are going to pay for the accidental damage
