HP touchsmart 15 ,I try to do a reset but it stays black and says continue start up

Try these steps:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

Turn off the Computer:

  • Press and hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

Disconnect all External Devices:

  • Remove any external devices such as USB drives, printers, etc.

Disconnect the AC Adapter:

  • Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

Remove the Battery (if removable):

  • Remove the battery from the battery compartment.

Drain Residual Electrical Charge:

  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain any residual electrical charge.

Reassemble the Computer:

  • Insert the battery back into the battery compartment (if removable).
  • Connect the AC adapter back to the computer.
  • Do not reconnect any peripheral devices.

Turn on the Computer:

  • Press the power button to turn on the computer.

2. Perform a BIOS Update

Connect to the Internet:

  • Ensure your computer is connected to the internet.

Search for BIOS Update:

  • Visit the official HP Support website and search for the latest BIOS update for your device model.

Download and Install the BIOS Update:

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the BIOS update.

3. Perform System Diagnostics

Restart the Computer:

  • Turn off the computer and then turn it back on.

Enter System Diagnostics:

  • Immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  • Press F2 to open the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.

Run System Tests:

  • Select the Component Tests and run tests such as the Memory Test, Hard Drive Test, and others as needed.

4. Reset Windows using Microsoft Recovery Options

Access the Microsoft Recovery Options:

Follow the On-Screen Instructions:

  • Reset the password and follow the procedures provided by Microsoft to reset or restore Windows.
