@abcd443, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP 240 G8 Notebook PC (43Q77AV).

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

The error codes 90D and 90B on your HP 240 G8 Notebook PC are related to the system temperature and the system fan, respectively. These errors suggest that there might be an issue with thermal management or the cooling system of your laptop. Here's how you can address these errors:

Error Code 90D - System Temperature

  • Allow the Laptop to Cool Down: Ensure that the laptop is placed in a well-ventilated area and is not covered by any objects that could obstruct airflow.
  • Check and Clean Vents: Dust or debris may block the air vents. Use compressed air to clean the vents and ensure proper airflow.
  • Update BIOS and Drivers: An outdated BIOS or system drivers could contribute to overheating. Check the HP support website for the latest updates specific to your laptop model.

Error Code 90B - System Fan

  • Check for Fan Blockage: If there is any obstacle preventing the fan from spinning, clear it away.
  • Perform a Hard Reset: Power off the laptop, disconnect all external devices, remove the battery (if possible), and press the power button for about 15 seconds. Reconnect everything and restart the laptop.
  • Run HP Diagnostics: Use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool to test the fan and temperature sensors. This can help identify any issues with the hardware.
  • Inspect the Fan: If the issue persists, consider checking if the system fan is functioning properly or if it needs a replacement. This may require the assistance of a technician or an authorized service provider.

I hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!
