Envy 360 i7 11th gen
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I just bought a brand new HP Envy and only had it 1 week. I booted up this morning and received an error message (90b) saying that a problem had been detected with a cooling fan and to avoid damage the laptop will shutdown in 15 sec.

I went through the recommended steps of checking the air vents, updating the BIOS and hard reset all to no avail.

I then accessed the diagnostics (F2 on Boot) and ran the fan tests; fan speed and thermal. All tests ran successfully although what seemed strange to me was that the fan speed test reported that the CPU fan was unavailable? This wasn't reported as an error.

It seems that the laptop is doomed for return and service which is really disappointing so if anyone has any other ideas (short of opening it up) before it goes back I would be grateful.

Hi,

I think all that remains is to get it checked out under warranty.

Regards,

David
