HP Spectre 15-eb0000 x360 Convertible Laptop PC RCTO Base Model

Hello

I need help with my HP Spectre 15 X360. My computer installed a HP firmware update, then reported restart needed. After restarting my computer it showed a black screen with the error message "BIOs recovery files cannot be found or the files are corrupted."  It provided instruction to HP site for BIOS recovery drive creation.

Using the manual the following recovery process was attempted without success.

1. Pressing "win + b + power button" without USB plugged and nothing changed.

2. Pressing "win + b + power button" without USB plugged and nothing changed. .

3. I downloaded the bios software based on the serial number and created a recovery USB.

4. Inserted USB drive with b button. No change.

5. Inserted USB drive with Win+b+power. No change.

6. USB drive with V button. No change.

7. USB drive with Win+V. No change.

8. USB drive with Win button.. No change.

8. USB drive without pressing any key. No change.

Any tips on additional steps would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hi @Grizzlern,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've tried quite a few troubleshooting steps already. Since you're still encountering issues, let's explore a few more possibilities.

  • Check USB Drive Format: Ensure that the USB drive is formatted correctly and that the BIOS recovery files are properly placed on it. The USB drive should be formatted as FAT32, and the BIOS recovery files should be extracted directly onto the root directory of the drive.
  • Try Different USB Ports: Sometimes, certain USB ports might not work as expected during the BIOS recovery process. Try using different USB ports on your laptop to see if that makes a difference.
  • Verify BIOS Recovery Files: Double-check that you downloaded the correct BIOS recovery files for your specific model of HP Spectre 15 X360. Sometimes, using incorrect files can cause issues during the recovery process.
  • Remove Battery (If Possible): If your laptop has a removable battery, try removing the battery, disconnecting the power adapter, and holding down the power button for about 30 seconds to drain any residual power. Then, reinsert the battery and try the BIOS recovery process again.

If you're still unable to resolve the issue after trying these steps, it's possible that there may be a hardware problem with your laptop

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
