Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb0000 (598V2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

Following a BIOS update on my Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fb0160nf,
I noticed that some BIOS information was missing or incomplete, specifically the serial number, the product number and the product name (shows “Victu” instead of “Victus by HP Gaming Laptop”).

HP Support Assistant no longer correctly identifies my machine, which causes problems with automatic updates.
I have reinstalled the system, updated the BIOS, reset the BIOS, and performed all the tests and diagnostics available on HP Support, but the problem persists.

Can you tell me the procedure for re-entering the correct DMI/SMBIOS data please?

Best regards.

OS: Win 11 24h2 Home, BIOS: AMI F.24 09/04/2025 UEFI SMBIOS 3.3

Hi @NMPJ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your concern after the recent BIOS update on your Victus by HP 15-fb0160nf; some key BIOS identifiers, such as the Serial Number, Product Number, and Product Name, are missing or incomplete. I completely understand how frustrating that can be, especially when it affects HP Support Assistant and system detection.

Please note that DMI/SMBIOS information (such as serial number and product identifiers) is stored in a special firmware region of the motherboard. Once this data is lost or corrupted (often during a BIOS reflash or board replacement), it cannot be re-entered manually by the end user.

To correct this, HP-authorized service technicians use a proprietary HP DMI Tool that writes the original factory information back into the system board firmware. Unfortunately, this tool is not publicly available due to security and compliance restrictions.

If you’d like, I can help you locate the nearest authorized HP service provider or assist with starting a service request. Just share your country/region in a private message so we can guide you correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hello @VikramTheGreat

Thank you for your reply.

I am actually encountering some issues, since the BIOS update.
My laptop has 2x8Go ram installed, but now my system only detect 1 out of the 2 (in BIOS and Win 11 system info)

I checked mem 1 and 2 respectively on slot 1 and 2, and both memory and slot are working fine. But when the 2 are together, only one is detected.

I called HP Support and the guy told me to do a BIOS reset with WIN + B + Power.
At restart, system detect 16Go... only for it to freeze and crash after a minute, with AMD driver error message. Next restart only 8Go detected.

All this started to happen after I updated the BIOS and the infos went missing. I didn't add or replace any components on my laptop and all my drivers are updated (WIN, HP, AMD, SSD, etc...)

I have come to the conclusion that the source of the problem is the BIOS.…

I am aware HP has Tools not publicly available, but if there's a fix or something (even remotely) any help will be much appreciated.

Best regards.
