I have ran into a problem recently whereby the laptop will not boot up unless plugged in (though the laptop will run without the charger once booted up), and displays an error message stating that the battery is counterfeit and HP has detected this. However, if the screen idles once the charger has been removed, this counterfeit error will return.
This laptop is around two years old, was bought from a reputable retailer, and has had no modifications of repair work carried out on it.
The failure ID is:
6FQETH-000C02-MFPV41-C0UJ13
I have tried updating the BIOS, which has not resolved the issue.
The laptop is otherwise healthy, and the battery charges and drains fully.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
