Hello, I attempted to do a factory reset on my HP Pavilion notebook.
Model 17 - g192dx
Product ID: V0Q01UA#ABA
It is now stuck in a loop when rebooting or restarting. I’ve turned it off and drained the power and took out the battery and left it over night. Still in a loop. I have tried messing with the BIOS and all things considered online and nothing has worked. Only thing I have not done yet is bought a CD or USB to get the Windows system download/recovery program to re install. Hoping I can get more helpful advice here before spending money and it still not work. Please advise what exactly to buy if needed to save my laptop.

@SFlorio04, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Pavilion 17-g192dx is stuck in a boot loop after a factory reset, which usually indicates a corrupted recovery partition or an incomplete reset process. Here’s what you can try before purchasing anything:
Step 1: Try Automatic Repair Mode
- Turn off your laptop completely.
- Turn it back on and immediately start pressing F11 repeatedly until you see the HP Recovery screen.
- If it loads, try using Startup Repair first.
- If Startup Repair doesn’t work, go back and select System Restore to revert to an earlier point before the reset.
Step 2: Boot into Safe Mode
- Try booting into Safe Mode by turning the laptop on and off forcefully three times (holding the power button to shut it down).
- On the fourth boot, it should enter Advanced Startup Options.
- Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart.
- Select Safe Mode with Networking and see if Windows boots.
Step 3: Reset Again from Recovery Mode
- If you can access Advanced Startup Options (via F11 or forced shutdown method), try a fresh factory reset.
- Go to Troubleshoot > Reset this PC > Remove everything.
- If the process gets stuck again, then your recovery partition may be corrupted.
If the Above Steps Don't Work: Reinstall Windows
Since your system is in a loop and you don’t have recovery media, you’ll need a Windows installation USB. You don’t need to buy one—you can create it yourself for free.
How to Create a Windows 10/11 Installation USB (Free)
- Get a USB drive (16/32GB).
- On another working PC, download the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's website:👉 Download Here
- Run the tool and choose Create installation media for another PC.
- Select USB flash drive, then follow the instructions to create the bootable USB.
How to Use the USB to Reinstall Windows
- Insert the USB into your HP Pavilion.
- Turn on the laptop and repeatedly press F9 to open the Boot Menu.
- Select the USB drive and press Enter.
- Follow the Windows installation steps, selecting Custom Install and formatting the drive if necessary.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
