Can anyone help with this issue I get the message that a disk read error occurred and when I restart the same message comes up again. It’s an old machine but very important and so any help will be very appreciated.

Sorry no one has replied in over a week ... but this indicates a likely hardware failure on the hard drive.

If you can attach the drive to another PC, you can try running Windows CHKDSK to see if it can find the bad sectors and mark them as unusable.

If you go through that a few times and CHKDSK stops finding errors, then you might be able to reboot using it -- but understand, that means you will have lost files in the process.
