Product Name: HP Victus 15
Product Number: FB3888AX
Operating System: Windows 11 (Currently on version 25H2)

Detailed Problem Description: I am experiencing a persistent display freeze on my HP Victus 15. Every time Windows goes to the Lock Screen (either manually via Windows Key + L or via screen timeout), the screen completely freezes. The system itself has not crashed, but the display output is unresponsive.

Temporary Workaround: The only way to unfreeze the display without rebooting is to connect an external monitor (or navigate blindly) to Device Manager, disable the AMD Radeon Graphics driver, and immediately re-enable it. This restores normal function immediately. However, this is not a permanent fix. Upon the next system restart, the freezing behavior returns, forcing me to repeat the disable and enable process every single boot.

Steps to Recreate:

  1. Boot the laptop normally.

  2. Lock Windows (Windows Key + L) or let the device idle until the screen turns off/locks.

  3. Attempt to wake the screen; the display is completely frozen.

  4. Disable and re-enable the Radeon driver via Device Manager to restore functionality.

  5. Restart the laptop -> the issue returns.

Troubleshooting Steps Already Attempted: To isolate the issue, I have already performed extensive troubleshooting, ruling out basic driver conflicts and OS updates:

  • Driver Testing: Performed clean uninstalls of the graphics drivers (using DDU). Tested the stock OEM drivers provided by HP. Tested the absolute newest AMD Adrenalin drivers.
  • OS Rollback: Downgraded the OS specifically to Windows 11 24H2 to see if recent Windows updates caused a conflict with Modern Standby/lock behaviors.
  • Registry Modifications: Changed the ULPS (Ultra Low Power State) value to 0 in the registry to prevent the AMD GPU from entering deep sleep, but the freezing persists.
  • Power Settings: Disabled Windows Fast Startup and adjusted PCIe Link State Power Management settings.

Request for Assistance: Since basic driver rollbacks, ULPS tweaks, and OS downgrades have not resolved this, it feels like a handshake issue between the Radeon iGPU, Windows Modern Standby, and the lock screen state. Has anyone encountered this specific lock-screen freeze on the FB-series Victus? Are there specific BIOS updates or Advanced Power settings that address this Radeon driver crash?
