Hi @Rhiss,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I can imagine how alarming it must be to see that black screen and the blinking Caps Lock after cleaning your laptop. It’s understandable to be concerned about what might have happened. Let’s go through some questions and troubleshooting steps together to help diagnose the issue.
- Did you notice if the tweezers made contact with any specific components on the motherboard or any connectors, or was it just the casing?
Before this incident, did you experience any unusual behavior from the laptop, like unexpected shutdowns, strange noises, or hardware issues? - Is the laptop plugged into a power source when you attempt to turn it on, or are you using it on battery power only?
Check for Error Codes:
- When you power on the laptop and see the blinking Caps Lock, count the number of blinks. HP laptops often use blink codes to indicate specific issues. This pattern can help identify the problem (e.g., a certain number of blinks may indicate RAM or motherboard issues).
Hard Reset:
- Disconnect the power cord and remove the battery (if possible). Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual power. Reconnect the battery, plug in the power adapter, and try turning it on again.
Reseat Components:
- If you’re comfortable, open the laptop and check the internal components. Ensure that RAM and any removable parts are securely seated. Remove and reseat the RAM modules and any accessible connectors.
External Display Test:
- Connect the laptop to an external monitor using HDMI or any available port. This can help determine if the issue lies with the laptop’s display or the internal graphics. If the external monitor displays an image, the problem may be with the laptop’s screen or connectors.
Check Power Indicators:
- Observe the power indicator lights when you try to turn on the laptop. If you see the charging light lit and hear the fan running but still get no display, it may point to a motherboard issue or a short caused by the tweezers.
I would recommend you contact phone support for more options.
