HP EliteBook 840 G5 Notebook PC

Customer is unclear what she did prior to the issue.

Machine in a constant reboot loop at BIOS. At display of "HP Sure Start," the "entering system setup" message appears in the lower left corner of the display. A short flash of the initial BIOS settings screen, then a request to exit saving, not saving, or cancelling the updated settings action. Selections of either "No" or "Yes" produce the same result. Machine reboots to the same point again. Selecting "Cancel" at least gets one to the BIOS where settings can be changed. Up to this point I've done the following with no joy:

1. Reset BIOS to factory defaults
2. Opened the case, disconnected both the system battery as well as the CMOS battery

3. Attempted a BIOS update to the latest version using the BIOS update utility in BIOS (this appears to succeed, however, the preceding revision never changes, i.e., the update is offered again if I choose it again).

4. Played with various security settings, reset these to default, etc.

Any assistance is appreciated!
