My laptop was working fine for the past month after buying it (second hand) from someone. Battery would last 4hrs+. Suddenly yesterday after charging the battery full, the laptop automatically switched off after removing the power. From then on, it won't power on unless power cable is connected and it will shutdown when removed from power.
Now its saying 99% available (plugged in, not charging)
I appreciate all your help

Hello @kmurungu,
So basically what I understand here is , Unit will work when AC adapter is connected, Irrespective whether the battery is in or out.
Unit doesnt power on with just the battery though its completely charged. And the battery test says battery is working fine.
Now if the above is correct, Then the issue could with the system board as the its not taking the power/Electricity from the battery to power up
If possible ,To isolate try with another idectical battery on this unit or this battery on an another identical PC.
Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again !!

Your understanding is spot-on. You explained it right. However getting a battery like this to do the test is not possible as the type of laptop is not that popular down here. I wonder if there is anything else I can do apart from testing with a similar battery.

successfully updated the bios this morning but it didn't change anything.
Warranty - Laptop was bought in UK im using it in Zimbabwe. warranty says - Active: Covered under Manufacturer warranty, 5 months remaining.
What do I do. Are there warranty representatives for HP in every country (Zimbabwe to be specific)
Sorry to ask you too much. Thanks for all the help thus far.

Hello @kmurungu,
As the warranty is still active, I request you to call HP technical support over the phone and see if they could arrange for a repair.
