Hello, I own an EliteBook 850 G5. After a Windows update, including a BIOS update, the notebook turns on, but the screen remains black, and the fans run at high speed—nothing else happens.
I suspect the BIOS update failed, so I searched for the BIOS chip.
I found a Winbond chip between the RAM and hard drive, which is 32 MB in size.
However, the BIOS update available on the HP website is only 17 MB. I used the update version that was previously installed when the notebook was still working.
Can the damaged BIOS on the 32 MB chip be repaired with the BIOS update?
Let me know if you need further assistance or adjustments! 😊
