I've got an Elitebook 8560p. I was messing around and took ownership of system32. when I restarted the laptop, I couldn't get to the login screen anymore. after I backed up all my important files using an old CD I burnt of Backtrack 3 (Linux) , I decided I need to wipe the drive and start over. I don't know much about Linux so it was tough finding out how to use the command line to get things done, esspecially on an old Linux OS with less commands and no ethernet or wireless drivers. Anyways, I was able to create a couple bootable usb drives (formatted to fat32, tried ntfs as well though) . One with windows 7, and the other with windows 10. neither will load.
I can reaarange the boot order and select too boot from USB, but I get the message "remove media" or something similar to that. and when I tried the NTFS bootable, i got a different message but basically the same thing.
it won't boot from USB at all. I've scoured the internet and tried many different things in regards to the BIOS . the one thing it seems to come down to is that this Elitebook 8560p has no option for secure boot being on or off.
I need help wit this specific model and how to get it to recognize my bootable usb so i can install windows again.
also worth mentioning, I wiped the hard drive through the bios option, disk sanitize. I've partitioned the drive using Linux, which took forever to figure out, but that's as far as ive been able to get. can someone please tell me some options for this specific model?
