I enabled the fast boot option in bios (version F60) and now, for the life of me I cannot get it to boot to BIOS. I have tried the following:
1) Multiple tries to be fast enough that the ESC gets caught. I see the screen telling to hit ESC go by, but it always starts booting the OS.
2) I held down the ESC key while powering up the laptop. That didn't work. Neither did F2 or Shift.
3) I removed the hard drive and tried. I was able to see the system info page and run diagnostics, but not enter BIOS setup.
How can I disable fastboot or get into BIOS now. Am I locked out for good?
Thanks,
Rob

Hi Rob,
One idea which comes to mind would be to remove the RTC battery which should reset the Bios to default settings. On page 65 of service manual you can see how it is done.

You need to remove the ac adapter and laptop battery. Once you have then removed the RTC battery hold the power button to remove any residual charge and leave the battery out for about 20 minutes. Insert the RTC battery and all other components and boot the PC.
Hope it helps,
David

Hi David,
I've been really busy, but I ended up in a situation that I needed back into the BIOS, and so I took it all apart, disconnected the battery, shorted the terminals to discharge any capacitors, left it over night, and then tried it this morning. It said the RTC battery was removed and BIOS was reset, but I still can't get into BIOS. I can get into the screen where it has system information and tests, but I can't make any settings in the BIOS anymore. Do you have any other ideas?
Thanks,
Rob

Here is an update. I took it apart again and just plugged the keyboard in without the top cover, hard drive or main battery. I left the trackpad disconnected, and kept disconnecting the RTC battery and then reconnecting it and trying to get into BIOS. After a dozen trys, I was successful getting a screen that said the mouse was disconnected hit F10 to enter setup or F1 to continue, but wasn't fast enough on F10. I then tried about another dozen times and finally was fast enough. I then disabled Fast Boot which should be labelled, Boot so Fast, you will never get into BIOS, and now I can get to BIOS when I need to.
Thanks for the help!
Rob
