My friend just recently started having this issue with his laptop. He isnt that tech savvy so i thought i would post about it and see if there is any documentations for this issue.
When this laptop is plugged in, it will not power up. No fans, no display. When i press the power button the power LED will blink 3 times. If i press the power button again it will blink 3 times again and wont power on. I scoured the internet for documentation on the led codes to try to narrow down the issue, but i have not found anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey There! @Rockwellium, Welcome to HP forums!
I understand you have issues booting into your PC and the light on the power button keeps blinking 3 times repeatedly.
Don't worry I'd like to help you out.
Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?
Is there any light blinking on caps lock or num lock on your PC?
Have you tried checking with a different adapter?
Are you able to boot into BIOS?
Please provide the product number of your PC to assist you better.
As you mentioned you have issues booting into your PC and the light on the power button and the wireless button keeps blinking 5 times repeatedly.
Try the steps recommended below.
To perform a power reset on a laptop with a removable battery, use the following steps:
-
Turn off the computer.
-
Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.
-
Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.
-
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
-
Remove the battery from the battery compartment.
-
With the battery and power cord unplugged, press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual electrical charge from the capacitors.
-
Insert the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the laptop, but do not connect any of the peripheral devices.
-
Press the Power button to turn on the computer.
-
If a startup menu opens, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows Normally, and then press the Enter key.
-
After Windows opens, reconnect each peripheral device that was disconnected, one device at a time, until all devices are reconnected.
-
Your laptop has been reset. After a power reset, it is a good idea to run Windows Update and HP Support Assistant to update all device drivers. See Updating Drivers and Software with Windows Update (Windows 10, 😎 and Using HP Support Assistant (Windows 10, 8, 7) for more information.
Try restoring the BIOS to default and check if it helps.
1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.
Try updating the BIOS on your PC and check if it helps.

The caps lock and wireless lights do not blink at all. The only blinking light is the power LED. It blinks 3 times and then repeats. It will not power on at all. I tried a hard reset to no avail. I tried multiple chargers. Same issue. No hardware changes or software changes have been made. Model number is 15t-k200. What is the diagnosis if the power led blinks 3 times and doesnt power on? If power button is pressed again the 3 blinks happen again and no power up.

I have reviewed the post. It is delightful to have you back here. You've done amazingly well by displaying spectacular troubleshooting expertise, superb resilience and stupendous research to try and figure it out. Kudos to you for a job well done. 🙂 You've tried all the relevant steps and the issue continues. As @MrRobot is out for the day, I am responding on his behalf.
- The blinking codes refer to failed graphics card controllers on the motherboard if the computer was purchased after 2015.
- If it was a purchase that predated 2015, then the blinking codes indicate that memory modules have failed.
Please refer to this link: http://hp.care/2oOSAlx (HP Notebook PCs - Computer Does Not Start and Emits an LED or Beep Code )
- refer to the section "LEDs near Caps Lock and Number Lock keys blink when starting the notebook"

- BIOS flashing light error codes for computers released between 2011 and January 2015
So please contact HP phone support to get the computer repaired if possible.

If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.
If the computer is more than 4 years old then service options with HP are no longer available because the original suppliers and manufacturers who manufacture and supply the parts to HP to build and service the computer don't do so anymore. Then contact a local technician such as a Best Buy or Staples tech or any other local tech to repair the computer.
Hope this answers your question. Now trust me I've done all I can to assist you by keeping your best interest in mind. Good luck and I hope things work great for you. 🙂
