Hi @Screenname116,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Boot Device Not Found Hard Disk 3F0" error message typically indicates that your laptop is unable to locate a bootable device. Since you've mentioned that you removed the battery due to swelling and deformities, let's go through a troubleshooting process to resolve the issue.

Reconnect the Hard Drive: Ensure that the hard drive is properly connected to the laptop's motherboard. It's possible that during the battery removal, the hard drive cable got disconnected or loosened.

Check Boot Order in BIOS/UEFI: Sometimes, the boot order may have been altered in the BIOS/UEFI settings. Access your laptop's BIOS or UEFI settings and make sure that the hard drive is set as the primary boot device. Here are the steps to access BIOS/UEFI:

  • Turn off your laptop.
  • Turn it back on and repeatedly press the key (usually F2, F10, Del, or Esc) to access the BIOS/UEFI settings.
  • Look for a "Boot" or "Boot Order" menu and set the hard drive as the first boot device.
  • Save and exit the BIOS/UEFI settings.

Legacy/UEFI Boot Mode: Check if your laptop is set to boot in UEFI mode or Legacy mode. It's generally recommended to use UEFI mode for modern laptops. Ensure that your boot mode is correctly configured in the BIOS/UEFI settings.

Check for Loose Cables and Connections: Apart from the hard drive, ensure that all other internal cables and connections are secure. A loose cable connection could also cause this issue.

Recovery Options: If none of the above steps work, you might want to try recovery options. You can use a Windows recovery USB drive or installation media to attempt to repair or reinstall Windows. Make sure to set your laptop to boot from the USB drive in the BIOS/UEFI settings.

Update BIOS/UEFI: If possible, check if there is a BIOS/UEFI update available for your laptop model. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve compatibility issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
